Do you want to see growth in the key areas of your life? You will only see change when you have a reality check on what you really believe. Growth won’t just happen on its own. Growth = honesty and a plan for change.
You are no more than what you are. If you want to see what you really believe, look no further than what you live. You cannot claim to believe any more than what you do.
We can all say things are important, but what we think is important is acted on:
How do I know you believe eating and sleeping are important? Because you eat and sleep.
How do I know you believe sports are important? Because you don’t fail to watch your team.
We can deceive ourselves into thinking we believe things are important that we don’t act on. But true, genuine conviction always results in action. Always.
Based on that, what do you REALLY believe about:
• Morality? (Just look at the stuff you watch and listen to. See Hebrews 5:11-14.)
• Evangelism? (Whom did you share Christ with this year?)
• Biblical Parenting/Shepherding? (How are you encouraging your kids towards Christ?)
• Prayer? (How does your prayer life point towards total dependence on Christ?)
• God-Honoring Marriages? (In what ways, in the last 12 months, did you grow together in Christ?)
• Discipleship? (Who did you disciple this year?)
• Serving in Church? (Where are you currently serving, and with what attitude?)
• Giving? (Did you regularly, joyfully give to your church in the past 12 months?)
• Growth through the Word? (What books of the Bible did you study in depth in the past 12 months?)
• Scripture Memory? (What passages/verses have you memorized in the past 12 months?)
• Priorities? (Did you spend time in the past 12 months on things that have a high eternal ROI (Return on Investment)?)
• Relationships? (Do you reach out to people in your circle to encourage them?)
The goal here is not guilt…it’s evaluation.
Growth = honesty and a plan for change. See some areas you need to readdress as you head into 2023? Then maybe take some time over the next few days and right down one goal in these different areas (and others you can think of).
Don’t deceive yourself into thinking you are something you are not. That’s pride.
And don’t look at the areas you need to grow in with acknowledgment but also inaction. That also is pride.
By God’s grace, let’s get growing in some key areas of life!
